Looking after your home

Improving your home

We are committed to maintaining our homes to a high standard and making sure you feel safe and secure in your home.

As part of our commitment to providing better homes, we monitor the condition of your home in a number of ways to ensure it is of a decent standard.

Stock condition survey

A stock condition survey involves a 30-minute appointment where one of our surveyors visits your home and takes a few photos, giving us a visual record of the condition of the property.

During our visit, we will assess the current state of your home, including kitchens, bathrooms, roofing, windows, doors, external decoration and communal areas if applicable. We then follow up with any necessary repairs or improvements and make note of any work that may be required in the future.

We currently have a rolling programme of stock condition surveys – we aim to survey 20% of all our homes each year, meaning that we will see each of our homes at least once every five years.

Electrical and gas safety checks

We carry out annual gas safety checks, and electrical checks at least once every five years, to help us identify any essential upgrades your home may need and to ensure that your appliances are in good working order and safe to use.

Improving the energy efficiency of our homes

Currently, our main focus is on insulating poorly performing properties to ensure that we make them more thermally efficient. By making our homes warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer, we are helping residents to save money on their energy bills.

We will get in touch with you directly if we believe that your home is in need of insulation work.

You don’t have to wait for us to contact you – if you report a problem to us, for example damp and mould, or you are concerned that your property is in a bad condition, we will visit you and refresh the information we have about the condition of your home.
