Aids & adaptations

We are committed to supporting our residents. If additional changes to your property would help make getting around just that bit easier, we may be able to help.

To help you maintain your independence, we may be able to install mobility aids and adaptations to your home, which can make a big difference to your daily life.

Minor adaptations, which include putting in a half-step, fitting electric window openers and adding grab rails and lever taps, can be carried out by our repairs team, and we will always try to fund them where possible.

We can also offer major adaptations, in certain circumstances. These include level-access showers, wet rooms and stair lifts. To receive any of these, you’ll need to be assessed by an occupational therapist.

Aids and adaptations works can be quite complex, as we will work with specialist contractors as well as occupational therapists, who can make a referral on the tenant's behalf.

Please be aware that aids and adaptations jobs may take some time, because these jobs are often complex, expensive and in high demand. However, we will work with you to explain the process and help you make your application.

Requesting an adaptation

We want to help as many people as possible to maintain their independence, but we can’t always cover all types of adaptations. Laws, regulations, budget and timescales can sometimes prevent us from carrying out certain works.

For more information about how to request an adaptation, and for details of the works we can cover and the funding available, please get in touch with us. You can call us on 0800 218 2247 or email us using the form below.
