Our Leadership Team
Tina Barnard – Chief Executive
As Chief Executive I have overall responsibility for delivering our Business Plan. This is achieved by working closely with the Directors, and the Marketing and Communications team also report directly to me.
We are a key player in Watford, Three Rivers and beyond, as we work to deliver our vision of better homes, friendlier communities – together. We have aspirations to grow in terms of both ‘bricks and mortar’ and key services to enhance the areas we work in and help improve people’s life chances. We cannot do this on our own, so it is key that we build new partnerships.
I am a qualified accountant who has worked in housing for over 20 years. I have worked as a Finance Director in three housing organisations – CHP, Worthing Homes and New Era – as well as being a financial analyst at the Housing Corporation. I have also been a Non-Executive Director for a number of housing and charitable organisations, and am currently on the Board of the Hertfordshire Local Enterprise Partnership
At the weekend I love to go walking with friends – enjoying the countryside during the day, with a glass of wine and good meal in the evening.
Paul Richmond – Director of Finance and Resources
As Director of Finance and Resources, I am responsible for Finance, Treasury, Procurement, IT & Innovation, People, Health & Safety and Policy.
My directorate’s focus is to ensure that we add value to our organisation by delivering excellent customer-centric services and continuing to grow and develop, and achieve our objectives.
I am a qualified accountant and have completed an MBA at Cranfield. I have worked in the financial services sector for nearly 15 years with extensive experience in strategic planning, financial reporting, expense control, risk management, mergers and acquisitions, and other disciplines, to ensure the commercial success and viability of organisations.
In my spare time I enjoy painting and playing football. I am also a Board Member at Peter Bedford Housing Association in NE London.
Gareth Lewis – Director of Partnerships
The achievement of the our Corporate Objective for growth has seen a sustained increase in development activity and sector-wide emphasis on value for money has led to a wider acknowledgement that strategic alliances and partnership working can deliver better, more effective homes and services for our tenants.
As Director of Partnerships, I oversee our development activity as we work towards our aspiration to deliver 1,000 new homes by 2020. I am also responsible for ensuring that opportunities to collaborate and improve our service delivery, together with offering our services to others, are maximised.
I have spent my entire career in social housing, including 15 years in consultancy. There have been many changes during that time in how we house our tenants, provide wider services to the community and deliver new homes, but the challenges we are now facing are probably the most difficult. I believe that my experience will help us improve and deliver the best of services to our residents and those in our neighbourhoods.
Music has always been a passion and remains so, whether it's playing, listening or watching it live. Family and home take up much of my time – a very happy diversion – but we still find gaps for travel.
Ben Johnson - Director of Operations
As Director of Operations I am responsible for all of the customer-facing services, including responsive repairs, asset management, community investment, customer contact, estate services, tenancy management and income collection.
My department’s purpose is to deliver great customer satisfaction, in line with our business plan aim to ensure that our customers see us as a Super Brand.
I have 15 years’ experience in social housing, which includes working for large and medium-sized housing associations, and in private practice. I am a chartered residential surveyor with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and hold a 1st class degree in Building Surveying.
In my spare time I enjoy playing football, walking, spending time with my family and giving back to the sector as a Non-Executive Director of a large charity.
Martina Kennedy - Director of Clarendon Living
Watford Community Housing's commercial development company, Clarendon Living, will allow us to build new partnerships and work in innovative ways to deliver housing in the wider Hertfordshire area. As Director of Clarendon Living, I play a key role in the ambitious development plans, as well as contributing to the overall business goals of the group. I'll be helping to support a number of projects delivered independently by Clarendon Living and within our joint ventures.
I've worked in the housing sector for over 20 years in a range of different roles ranging from supported housing to development. Most recently, I led a development team in London for 10 years and then headed up a large regeneration in East London.
In my spare time I like to watch football (particularly Fulham!), practice yoga and spend time with my family at home in North London.
