We're working to improve and regenerate the Meriden, with a development programme which will enhance the local area for residents and communities.

Our development will, across the four years scheduled for works, deliver improvements for the whole area, including 133 newly built or refurbished homes, an expanded community hub, a hairdressing salon for the whole community, a new parade of shops and new green spaces.

The project represents a £36 million investment, £4.4 million of which was funded directly from government grants.

In the initial stages of the project, we met with key stakeholders such as the residents of bungalows, the Friends of Meriden, the Meriden Residents' Association and ward councillors to provide an overview of the delivery of the scheme. In January 2017, we began initial works on the site and we have now appointed Mulalley for the construction phase of the project.

Split into two phases, the works will cover the central area of the Meriden. Phase one, predicted to conclude in spring 2020, will see the development of the retail block and the first of the new residences, including bungalows and houses. Phase two focuses on the extra care facility, including a large hairdressing salon which will serve the whole community.

For more information about the development, you can view the slides from our recent meeting. Representatives from Mulalleys and Watford Community Housing came together to share and discuss the development plans with the local Meriden community. Site update: Major construction works for the first phase of the development began in September 2018. Residents will now be able to see the first 3 new bungalows being constructied. The bungalows are expected to be completed in June 2019.
