Former North Watford Police Station - Humberstone Close
In June 2018, Watford Community Housing completed development on the site of the former North Watford Police Station. The site now contains a housing block, which has provided 16 two-bedroom apartments, and 12 semi-detached houses. All the properties are a mixture of homes for affordable rent and shared ownership homes, and all the homes have now been allocated or sold.
In February 2018, Watford Community Housing completed 32 new affordable homes in Francis House and Joseph Housing on Hemming Way in Watford.
In addition to the high quality design of the buildings, we also invested a significant sum in improving the entrance to the Leavesden Green Recreation Ground, and provided more landscaping and parking on Hemming Way itself.
We have now completed the refurbishment of our existing sheltered scheme at Horwood Court, modernising the building to suit the needs of our residents. The re-modelled scheme means that all one-bedroom flats now have their own bathroom facilities.
In addition, access has been improved, with a new first floor walkway connecting the North and South Block. A new lift has also been installed.
Broomfield Rise - Millers Court
In 2017 we opened our first homes in Abbots Langley. Millers Court consists of 6 two-bedroom properties (two for affordable rent and 4 for shared ownership).
The Rosefair development, made up of 25 1- and 2-bedroom flats, was completed in March 2017. The flats are all affordable rent and are a part of the new estate being developed by Shanly Homes.
Homes behind Rembrandt House
In February 2016, 6 homes were completed on King George Avenue and Rembrandt Way. These consist of a mix of social and affordable rent homes.
Lincoln Green Court
The Lincoln Green Court development was completed in February 2017. The former sheltered housing scheme was demolished in December 2015 as the building was unsuitable for refurbishment. Our contractor, Jarvis, constructed a new building which includes 20 affordable homes and two social rent homes.
In early 2017 we completed 12 brand new apartments (7 x one-bedroom and 5 x two bedroom) at our Hemingford Court development at Gartlet Road (off Clarendon Road). All of the homes in the development are part of the Shared Ownership scheme, where tenants can purchase a percentage of their home (25%-75%) with us.
We're pleased to announce that all the homes in this development have now been sold under the scheme, with all the tenants sharing ownership with Watford Community Housing.
These completed homes contribute to our target of reaching 1,000 new homes for the Watford area by 2020.
