The Lighthouse Café is a joint project between All Saints Church Leavesden and Watford Community Housing which was created as a way to build relationships within the local community. They have been meeting at our Leavesden Green Community Hub for over five years now and pride themselves on being open to everyone!
The event is essentially a coffee morning that runs every Monday from 10am to 12pm during term time and is run by Charles Porter, a Reader for All Saints Church, along with other church volunteers, who are all dedicating their time to help the community.
They are a recognised ‘Place of Welcome’ – along with over 350 other venues across the UK – which means they are part of a growing network of local community groups who provide people in their neighbourhood with a safe environment. They are usually open to everyone, offering a friendly face and a nice cup of tea, and the Lighthouse Café provides just that – an opportunity to come along and meet new people with free drinks, biscuits and delicious cakes. Their sessions are usually attended by between 20 to 60 people, of any age, gender or religion – all are welcome.
Charles and his team understand the importance of a community where people depend on and support each other and have created the Lighthouse Café as a presence in the community where everyone feels welcome. A huge thank you to Charles for talking to us – we are so excited to be able to welcome the community back to Lighthouse Café!
