We have very exciting plans to improve our hub, including essential energy efficiency upgrades.
Watford Borough Council has secured funding through the Government’s Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme to carry out improvement works at the hub. These improvements will help reduce carbon omissions and enhance the energy efficiency of the building, which will benefit both the environment and long-term sustainability of the hub.
The planned works include installing insulation and double glazing, replacing the gas boilers with electric air source heat pumps and upgrading the water heaters and radiators.
Watford Borough Council are leading on this project as the building is owned by them and therefore some of the timescales are beyond our control – we expect works to start mid-July and to be complete in October 2025.
Once the works are complete, we look forward to welcoming you into the hub to enjoy the new and improved facilities!
Amy Willcox-Smith, Assistant Director of Customers and Communities for Watford Community Housing, said:
“We are very pleased that Watford Borough Council chose the Harebreaks Community Hub to receive energy efficiency upgrades, which will benefit both the environment and long-term sustainability of our hub.
“As a key community space in Watford, we are proud to be supporting Watford's broader sustainability strategy and doing our bit for the community's environmental footprint.”
