On Thursday 24 February, Fay Brown, a Senior Trainer from Engie, ran an Elderly First Aid Workshop for our Independent Living residents to increase confidence and awareness in the event of an accident.
Last year when visiting some of our schemes, our Community Engagement Officer Jean asked all the residents about different courses they may be interested in taking and one resident suggested a first aid course so they could learn what to do if another resident became ill or had a fall. After being postponed due to Covid, the course finally took place in February - Treebridge House in the morning where there were nine residents in attendance, and Hollytree House in the afternoon where there were six attendees.
Engie ran a two-hour course that was tailored towards the attendees and covered exactly what they wanted to learn. Fay brought some CPR manikins with her for the residents to practice on and videos about how to use a defibrillator.
Overall, the workshop was very well attended and had lots of questions and participation from all the residents.
A huge thank you to Fay and Engie for running the workshop and to all our attendees for taking part!
