We're delighted to announce our acquisition of Yeatman Court, the former Mothercare headquarters, where we will bring 145 affordable homes to market in 2023.

Situated in North Watford, this stunning art deco building was originally established in 1918 as Yeatmans sweet factory, and more recently became the headquarters for Mothercare.

The historic building has now been converted for residential use, comprising a mixture of spacious, naturally lit one-and two-bedroom apartments – 70 for shared ownership, 63 for affordable rent and 12 for social rent. Each home has an EPC rating of at least band C and the building also benefits from energy-saving solar panels attached to the roof.

In keeping with the sustainable theme of the development, we've ensured access to multiple charging points for electric vehicles, as well as a communal garden with space to grow fruit and vegetables and a car club that will encourage ridesharing.

Yeatman Court occupies a unique position just off a quiet residential road but also benefits from being less than a one-hour drive to Central London and a 15-minute walk to North Watford station, making it an attractive prospect for anyone working in Watford or commuting into London.

The development is also ideally situated for anyone working or seeking work locally. There are over 160 employers within a 20-minute walk of Yeatman Court, offering tenants rental rates that are significantly cheaper than the private market equivalent and an opportunity to cut out the cost of the daily commute.

Commenting on the acquisition, Tina Barnard, our Chief Executive said:

“This building has been at the heart of Watford’s history for over 100 years, so we’re thrilled that these great new homes will be affordably priced, ensuring that the site continues to benefit the local community.

“Yeatman Court offers an array of beautiful one-and two-bedroom apartments that are both affordable and ideally situated. It’s a truly unique marriage of old and new, combining this stunning art-deco façade with sustainable, modern amenities.”
