Apprenticeships

Want to join us and achieve a qualification while you work? Our apprenticeships are an amazing way to learn new skills and kickstart your career!

Why should I do an apprenticeship with Watford Community Housing?

At Watford Community Housing, we run apprenticeship schemes in many different departments, so there is sure to be something for everyone. With opportunities in everything from IT or administration to plumbing or customer services, our apprenticeships are a great way to earn while you learn.

When doing an apprenticeship at Watford Community Housing, you are given dedicated time each week to focus solely on your studies. To help you develop and succeed in your chosen field, we’ll find the best possible course for you. We’ll look carefully at training providers’ pass rates and the satisfaction levels of previous students to make sure the course is a perfect fit.

Our apprenticeship scheme is open to people of all ages! Are you just leaving school and looking for an alternative route than university? Or are you looking for a career change and to retrain in a new field? Whatever your circumstances, our scheme is open to all.

We have been running a successful apprenticeship scheme for the past six years, therefore there will be employees within the organisation that have completed similar courses who will be there to mentor and support you throughout the whole process.

At Watford Community Housing we pay the National Minimum Wage rather than the Apprentice Minimum Wage, regardless of the age of our employees.

What did our past apprentices have to say?

“I chose to do an apprenticeship because earning while you’re learning seemed really appealing. From my two-year course, I gained a huge amount of knowledge and practical experience that will help me with my career at Watford Community Housing and beyond. I received so much support, not just from my team but the entire organisation – everyone is so willing to help in any way they can and are extremely encouraging. It was very challenging but absolutely worth it!”

– Lucy, Communications Apprentice

“I had wanted to work in HR for a long time but wasn’t sure how to transition into that field, so an apprenticeship was perfect! I had the opportunity to complete a Level 5 diploma in HR while gaining invaluable on-the-job experience – and no two days are the same.”

– Colette, HR Apprentice
