The Dan Tien is the home of high-quality training in singing, dancing, acting and music in Watford. They usually run their classes from our Harebreaks Community Hub, but the school adapted quickly to online teaching – so fast that the kids didn’t even miss a class!

The studio is run by the wonderful Amy Lazzerini, alongside her husband, Nick, and mother-in-law Lindsey and has been running for nearly 12 years – with around seven of those years at our hub. In that time, it has grown from just 10 students to around 400.

They pride themselves on being a company that can give their students a huge variety of training, teaching kids singing, dancing, acting and music lessons – there truly is something for everyone. Students can do one class a week and just go for fun or they can attend every day and take part in exams and performances – the choice is yours!

The Dan Tien certainly hasn’t let lockdown bring them down! After holding virtual sessions over Easter, May half-term and summer, the Sunday sessions are back. The sessions, funded by The National Lottery, are every Sunday for four weeks starting on the 17th of January, and it’s free to take part!

From toddlers to teenagers, there is something for everyone to get involved in, giving you the chance to connect with others online, improve your mental wellbeing and, of course, get some much-needed exercise. The full list of activities can be found below, but please be aware that you must register your interest in advance by emailing office@thedantien.co.uk

As well as all that’s currently happening, they have some exciting plans for the future. Get the popcorn ready because The Dan Tien are producing a feature film! Stay tuned for that this summer.

Whilst Zoom can’t replace classes in the studio, for now they are a great substitute. Amy and the dancers are desperate to get back into the studio and perform again, and when the time comes, the Harebreaks Hub will welcome them back with open arms!

A huge thank you to Amy for talking to us about her studio! To find out more about The Dan Tien visit their website: thedantien.co.uk/ and follow them on social media: www.instagram.com/thedantien/ www.facebook.com/thedantienperformingarts
