Since launching on Friday 25 April 2025, our weekly Strength and Balance classes, run in partnership with Watford Borough Council, have become a much‑loved part of the community calendar. Designed to support physical wellbeing and social connection, the sessions run every Friday from 11:00am to 12:30pm in our Leavesden Green Community Hub. We welcome between 14–18 attendees each week, including several of our tenants and a number of local Watford residents.
Staying active with seated exercises
The first 45 minutes of each session focuses on gentle, instructor‑led seated strength and balance exercises. These classes are ideal for those looking to improve mobility, increase confidence in movement, and maintain independence in a safe, supportive environment.
The exercises are designed to be accessible for all abilities and are delivered in a friendly group setting that encourages motivation and fun. Many attendees have commented on how much stronger, more stable and energised they feel after taking part regularly.
A friendly community
Following the class, attendees can enjoy socialising and free refreshments until 12:30pm. This is often one of the highlights of the morning, offering space to unwind after the exercises, chat and make new connections over tea, coffee and snacks.
These weekly social moments help build confidence, reduce isolation and bring people together in a relaxed, welcoming environment.
