We are pleased to share that on 26 February 2026, the planning committee unanimously approved a proposal for new affordable homes in Barton Way.

The former Red Cross building is set to be demolished to make way for a new three-story building – eight affordable homes on the first and second floors, and a new parish council office and community space on the ground floor.

The plan was worked on in partnership with Croxley Green Parish Council, and the scheme will be delivered by Three Rivers Homes, our joint venture with Three Rivers District Council.

Cllr Stephen Giles-Medhurst OBE, Leader of Three Rivers District Council, said: “This a significant milestone for the project. With thanks to resident feedback and collaborative working with the parish council, we have designed a proposal that is a ‘win-win’.

“We will be using one million pounds from funding we received from other developments in the district to partially pay for the affordable flats. It is a smart use of money that will help ease our housing waiting list and take development pressure off the green belt.

“Now that the planning permission has been secured, subject to conditions, we can look forward to when shovels start to hit the ground.”
