Homes in development

We know there’s a real need for affordable housing, so we’re committed to building homes that give people the opportunity of a better place to live.

If you have any questions about any of our developments, please get in touch on 0800 218 2247 or email us at enquiries@wcht.org.uk.

Amwell Close

We are working on proposals to redevelop land at the end of Amwell Close, in order to provide 6 two-bedroom flats for social rent.

Residents living in close proximity to the development were invited to a drop-in session on Monday 2nd September to discuss the plans, with the planning application expected to be submitted in the autumn.

See more of the plans here.

Bowmans Green

We have received planning approval to build three new family-sized bungalows on two former garage sites on Bowmans Green. After the consultation period ended, we made some minor adjustments to the designs.

This development will provide 2 three-bedroom bungalows and 1 one-bedroom bungalow, all for social rent. There will also be a total of 5 car parking spaces created.

Boundary Way

We’re building 56 new homes for affordable rent on Boundary Way, along with improved public spaces for local residents.

See more of the plans here.

The Brow

Our regeneration project at The Brow will provide a new shopping parade and homes for the area. It includes a total of eight new shops and 38 homes, 35 of which will be family homes for affordable rent.

Works are progressing well on site, with the main roof works now complete – the development is expected to be completed by November 2019 at the latest.

Chesham Way

We own two garage sites on Chesham Way, one at the north end and one at the south end. We have received planning approval to develop both sites to provide six new homes for social rent.

At the north end, we will build 2 three-bedroom homes and 4 parking spaces. At the south end we will build 4 three-bedroom homes with an additional 10 parking spaces.

Cupid Green Lane

We have received planning permission to build two new two-bedroom houses for affordable rent in Hemel Hempstead. Working with Dacorum Borough Council, we are redeveloping a former garage site to provide much-needed housing.

The development will be based on the corner of Cupid Green Lane and Yeoman's Ride in the Grovehill area of Hemel Hempstead.

Hope Green

We have now received planning approval to build new homes for social rent on a garage site behind the scout hut on Hope Green.

After holding consultations with residents and listening to their feedback, we have carried out a design audit and changed some aspects of the proposals.

We are now building 4 three-bedroom houses. The height of these houses has been reduced from three storeys high to two storeys high. The development will also include eight parking spaces.

This development will also provide private gardens.

Humberstone Close

Humberstone Close - the former site of North Watford police station - will see and additional flat for shared ownership, which is due to be available in December 2019.

Hyde Meadows

We have purchased a garage site on Hyde Meadows in Bovingdon, and we’re developing proposals to build 5 two-bedroom terraced houses for affordable rent on the land.

The proposed development also includes parking spaces for the new homes. See more of the proposals here.

Long Arrotts

We’re developing proposals to build eight homes for affordable rent on a garage site at the end of Long Arrotts in Hemel Hempstead. Two of the new homes will be two-bedroom semi-detached houses, and we’re also proposing to build a three-storey block which will contain 6 two-bedroom flats.

The development will also provide new gardens, new greenery and a new parking court.

The Meriden

We’re working to improve and regenerate the Meriden estate with a development programme which will enhance the area for residents and communities. The project represents a £36 million investment, £4.4 million of which was funded directly from government grants.

In the initial stages of the project, we met with key stakeholders such as the residents of bungalows, the Friends of Meriden, the Meriden Residents' Association and ward councillors to provide an overview of the delivery of the scheme.

We’ll be developing 133 newly built homes, an expanded community hub, a brand new parade of shops and new green spaces.

Split into two phases, the works will cover the central area of the Meriden. Phase one, estimated to conclude in spring 2020, will see the development of the retail block and the first of the new residences, including bungalows and houses. Phase two focuses on the extra care facility, including a large hairdressing salon which will serve the whole community.

Phase one is progressing well, with the first 3 bungalows expected to be completed in August/September 2019.

We also recently launched new-look newsletter The Meriden, full of news, events and regeneration updates. Check it out here!

Moor View

We’re currently developing proposals to build four new homes on a garage site on Moor View. The new homes will be made up of 3 two-bedroom homes and 1 three-bedroom home, all for social rent.

The development will also provide new back gardens and eight new parking spaces. See the development plans here

Newhouse Crescent

We're proposing to redevelop two former garage sites on Newhouse Crescent. We drew up an initial plan and held consultations with residents. After a design audit, some changes have been made to the plans.

The development is now proposing to build four new homes. Two of these will be 3-bedroom houses and two will be 2-bedroom houses. This new proposal responds better to the constraints of the site.

Park Mead

We are currently building new homes on the land next to the Baptist Church on Park Avenue in Bushey. The development will provide 16 new homes, made up of 7 one-bedroom flats, 8 two-bedroom flats and 1 three-bedroom flat, all for shared ownership.

Works are now on site, and the development is expected to be completed in winter 2019.

Salisbury Square

In Winter 2018, works started to develop new homes on Bushey Hall Road in Hertsmere. The development will create 25 new one and two-bedroom homes across two blocks, which will be available in June 2020, for a mix of private sale, shared ownership and affordable rent. Tolpits Lane

Hart Homes, our joint partnership with Watford Borough Council, is delivering a new residential development off Tolpits Lane.

The new development has so far delivered a 40-bed temporary accommodation unit (Brindle Court) and Buckskin Court, a new apartment block with 14 homes for affordable rent. The final apartment block, Pearl Court, has delivered 22 new one- and two-bedroom homes for affordable rent. New residents moved into these homes in April 2019.

Consultations have now also begun on phase two of the development – we'll be talking to local residents and Watford Borough Council to come up with a proposal.

Waterman Close

We have received planning approval to build three new homes on the garage site on Waterman Close. The homes would be made up of 3 three-bedroom houses, all for social rent.

The homes will also all have their own private back garden, as well as seven parking spaces between the three houses.

Following feedback from local residents during the consultation period, the designs were adapted, moving the proposed development further away from the existing homes on Waterman Close.

Woodmere Avenue

We are currently developing proposals to build 5 two-bedroom homes on a garage site on Woodmere Avenue. All of the flats will be available for social rent.

The development will also provide a parking court for the new homes.
