Our 10th birthday celebrations brighten the day!
On Saturday, Watford Community Housing hosted a community festival in order to celebrate its 10th birthday with residents, staff, local organisations and families all attending a free fun day at Watford’s Meriden estate.
The event brought together a wide range of Hertfordshire organisations, showcasing great local talent in all its forms. There was locally-made Caribbean food and homemade jewellery, martial arts performances from Leventis Tae Kwon Do and dancers from Lorraine’s School of Dance, presentations and information from Hertfordshire Constabulary and many other local organisations, as well as amazing fundraising from locals who abseiled down Munden View for the Peace Hospice! Even with a burst of autumnal weather the day was deemed a great success - and an appropriate party for celebrating a 10th birthday - by all who attended.
In order to make sure the day was affordable for everyone, many of our contractors sponsored parts of the festival, meaning as many rides and attractions as possible were free for everyone to try, including the bungee run, face painting, petting zoo and go-karts. A chance to come together for an affordable local event was appreciated by many, with one family commenting: “Days like these really help bring the community together – my children really enjoyed it!”
Amy Willcox-Smith, Customer Experience and Engagement Manager, said of the event: “We had a great time at our community festival and we’d like to thank everyone who came down for such an amazing, positive day. The best part of it was that there was a real sense of community spirit, which was so important to us in celebrating our 10th birthday. I’d also like to thank all our contractors, stallholders and staff, who did such a great job of making our community event the best one ever – even with the rain!”
