‘Exceptional’ score for our improvement programme!
Two minute read

Engie, our improvement programme contractor, has been awarded an ‘exceptional’ score of 42 out of 50 by Considerate Constructors, a national organisation which helps to improve the image and impact of construction in local communities.

We are repairing and modernising features of many of our homes through the planned works programme. It is now in its fourth year and hundreds of kitchens, bathrooms, roofs and windows have been upgraded as result of the scheme. With the final year now approaching, the works are set to continue delivering high-quality results.

In addition to a high average satisfaction score of 99.48% from residents, the report has shown that Engie are delivering more than just home upgrades to our residents. The Considerate Constructors report considered five key areas, with Engie scoring the maximum in both the ‘appearance’ and ‘respect for the community’ categories, and very high scores of eight out of nine in the remaining categories: ‘securing everyone’s safety’, ‘protect the environment’ and ‘value the workforce’. In total, the scheme scored highly across all categories and received almost entirely positive feedback in the report.

The improvement programme works are co-ordinated from a site compound based on the Harebreaks, which was praised for its clean and friendly appearance, and the “considerable effort” put in by the team in creating a compound with “a striking image which is exceptional for this sector of the industry”. The report highlighted the lack of vandalism, which it said was “astounding when you consider the compound is located in a recreation area”. As well as the appearance, it identified that “excellent systems and controls” are in place “to care for the safety of the public residents and the workforce”.

The report also focused on the respect shown to the local community by Engie’s staff, saying that “the team have made an outstanding effort to promote the industry” and they “demonstrate excellent attitudes of respect, consideration and support”.

Commenting on the report, Paul Marsh, Head of Asset and Compliance for Watford Community Housing, said: “We are thrilled to see Engie’s fantastic work receive recognition from the Considerate Constructors scheme. We have seen first-hand the excellent work they do and, as well as achieving a consistently high satisfaction score from our resident surveys, they have now surpassed themselves with this very high score, which shows that they share our commitment to delivering for our communities.

“We would like to thank Engie for their efforts, and we will continue to work closely together to ensure that these high standards are maintained.”
