You said, we did – Meriden’s pop up Post Office!

In response to community concerns we’ve been hard at work arranging interim services that ensure Meriden residents continue to have easy access to a post office.  

The redevelopment of the Meriden has meant the temporary closure of the existing post office, as the owners finalise their preparations to move to the brand-new parade of shops.

However, we have worked with the Post Office to arrange for a temporary service to be provided at the Meriden Community Centre. The new ‘pop up’ unit is now in place and is due to open soon.

Dean Russell MP met with Tina Barnard, Chief Executive of Watford Community Housing, and Richard Hall, Director of Public affairs at the Post Office, to mark the launch of the new service.

While the pop-up post office is being prepared for use, we have also agreed to fund a free bus service to take residents to the post office on Bushey Mill Lane – in partnership with Watford Borough Council's ArrivaClick service.

Speaking outside the Meriden Community Centre, MP Dean Russell said: “There are many people on the Meriden that rely on the Post Office, so I am really pleased that Watford Community Housing have made this service available whilst they prepare the pop up. I would like to thank everybody that has helped to get this idea up and running to ensure residents can continue to access vital post office services.”

Our Chief Executive, Tina said: “We know how important the Post Office is to our residents, so we’re thrilled to be able to provide these additional services for the community. These will ensure that local people continue to have access to the services they need at all times, ahead of the opening of the Post Office in the brand-new parade of shops at the Meriden. We’re committed to working in partnership to deliver for our residents and communities, and this is a great example of that.”
