Did you know that you can help to improve your neighbourhood by volunteering to become a Resident Inspector? By offering some time to monitor and score the quality of the cleaning and grounds maintenance services we provide, you can help us to improve and have your say if you think we should be doing more.

Mr R has been a customer of ours for three years and signed up to become a Resident Inspector in April 2019, after wanting to get more involved in his community. Mr. R kindly chatted with us about how he has been enjoying his experience and what he’s helped to achieve for the local area.

So, Mr R, what made you become a Resident Inspector?

I had seen the posters advertising the role and wanted to get involved. I really wanted to make a difference. After all, this is not just a building – it’s our home.

What do you enjoy most about being a Resident Inspector?

I love interacting with the other residents – it builds a real community spirit. Anyone in the property can count on me to report any issues and to give feedback.

What challenges do you have in this role?

Nothing, it’s a really straightforward process. There’s a booklet which provides me with all the information I need. I walk around each week and complete the inspection forms and then return them to Watford Community Housing.

Do you feel the standard of the grounds maintenance and communal cleaning has improved over the past few months?

Our building is being refurbished at present, with a new kitchen being fitted in our communal lounge. All other areas are good at present and I feel we’re getting back to a good standard.

How is the support from Watford Community Housing?

The support has been excellent and we receive regular communication from Watford Community Housing. Tracey from the Customer Relations Team always keeps me updated and I can easily contact her with any issues I have.

Thanks to people like Mr R who dedicate a little of their time every week to inspecting their neighbourhoods, we are able to monitor the quality of our services more effectively, ensuring communal areas and outdoor spaces are at their best for those who live there.
