What happens when you report anti-social behaviour?

Our policy is to respond promptly and effectively to complaints.

We do this by:

  • Making an early assessment of how severe the problem is, based on the information you have provided.
  • Formally recording every report of anti-social behaviour.
  • Contacting you within five working days of receiving your complaint in most circumstances. However, if you are in immediate or significant danger, or the complaint is about racial or other harassment, we will contact you by the next working day, and you will also be advised to contact the police immediately.
  • Assigning your complaint to a named member of staff, usually a Neighbourhood Officer, who will keep in contact and inform you of any progress.

The named member of staff will then work to resolve your concerns as appropriate, for example they may contact other agencies or speak to the person you are complaining about. We will not disclose any information provided by you, or about you, without first getting your consent (unless it would expose us to legal action).

Whatever the situation, we will make sure each case is dealt with, reaches a conclusion, and is then closed. You will be informed when the case has been closed and the reasons why.
